"In Cambodia, the effects of Kovid-19 disease have made it very difficult for us to do that," said Christine Pako, head of the International Organization for Migration in Cambodia. More than 100,000 migrant workers returned to Cambodia in March 2020. When they return to their communities, the returning workers may be more vulnerable because Lack of social protection, limited access to information, and increased risk of human trafficking and exploitation. This Covenant is an opportunity to continue working on key issues of the migration landscape in the 2030 Agenda for Development. Sustainably and ensure that migrants are not abandoned.

Please be informed that the World Covenant on Safe, orderly and legal migration is the first comprehensive provision of the United Nations to be adopted through Intergovernmental Dialogue to Improve International Cooperation in Global Migration Governance and Approved by the United Nations General Assembly Held on December 19, 2018 in New York City with 152 participating countries.



On October 10, 2017, the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking on behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Organized the first National Consultation Workshop in Phnom Penh under the chairmanship of Samdech Krala Hom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia. More than 107 people from relevant ministries, government institutions, civil society organizations, etc. to contribute to the preparation for the adoption of the World Convention on Migration.
