Mr. Chhim Vachra, Director of Battambang Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said that the Provincial Department of Agriculture is currently producing rice seeds at Ang Po in Sangkat O'Mal, Battambang city, using a tractor to sow rice in rows using only 100 kg of seeds per hectare while his farmers Uses 150 to 200 kg of seeds per hectare, and the production of pure and good varieties of rice can be achieved with this modern technique. Yields range from about 4 to 4 and a half tons per hectare. Rice seeds are produced here, the Department of Agriculture distributes them to rice-producing communities in the province to pass on to other farmers. Fields with pure rice varieties reduce the use of seeds. This rice seed production project has been implemented by the Provincial Department of Agriculture for more than three years, with a production capacity of more than 100 tons per year.
Mr. Chhim Vachra confirmed that the production of rice seeds in Battambang province has also faced obstacles related to water issues. Distributed to farmers is not enough yet. In relation to the agricultural sector in Battambang province, in addition to producing rice seeds, the provincial Department of Agriculture, together with its partners, produces cassava seeds and vegetable seeds.
