The National Assembly unanimously approved the draft law on the establishment of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation with 117 MPs.



On the morning of March 13, 2020, National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin led an extraordinary session of the National Assembly in the sixth session of the Assembly with 117 members of the National Assembly. Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen was here this morning.

During the extraordinary session of the National Assembly, the 6 th National Assembly presented six bills for approval: the draft law on the establishment of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation. Draft Law on the Second Protocol Amending Amendments to ASEAN Draft of the third protocol on the amendment of the ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Agreement. Draft Convention on the First Convention amending the ASEAN Commodity Agreement Draft Law on the Transfer of Prisoners Treaty between Cambodia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Draft law on the legal treaty on mutual assistance in the criminal sector between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

According to Facebook, the National Assembly of Cambodia stated that “After deliberation, the National Assembly unanimously passed the draft law on the establishment of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation. During the debate, the Honorable Dr. Pen Panha, Chairman of the National Assembly's Legislative and Justice Committee, reported to the Assembly the results of the draft law. He is the Minister of Industry and Handicrafts and his colleagues represent the government.

It should be reminded that the draft law on the establishment of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation has enabled the Royal Government to rename the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation to the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation. The rebranding of the Ministry of Industry is to broaden Cambodia's industrial potential, moving forward in the present and future, in the context of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
