North Korea's top diplomat has said Pyongyang supports the Chinese government on the Hong Kong issue, the state-run Xinhua News Agency reported on June 5. 2020

North Korea's foreign minister, Richardson, expressed support for China's policy to the Chinese ambassador to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Li Jin-jin and during a meeting at the Mansudae meeting in Pyongyang, Richardson told Li Jin-jin that the Hong Kong issue is China's internal affairs.

The North's foreign minister later said that external forces' interference in the Hong Kong issue was a "serious violation" of China's sovereignty and international law.

"We (North Korea) actively support the Communist Party's position and the Chinese government and their right to defend their sovereignty, security and territorial integrity."
