TOKYO – Japan's private-sector machinery orders fell 12 percent in April from a month earlier, according to Japan's Kyodo News Agency.

Orders excluding vessels and utilities due to their differences totaled 752.6 billion yen ($ 7 billion), according to the Cabinet Office.

The decline in machinery orders, seen as a leading indicator of capital spending, followed a 0.4 percent decline in March.
